EngineeringOther

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to bridge the gap between process science and scalable manufacturing in flexible PCB (FPCB) production.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy scalable, production-ready automation systems across FPCB manufacturing processes, transforming lab or engineering concepts into robust solutions that support both high-mix, low-volume and high-volume production.
  • Develop and integrate PLC, HMI, and motion control systems while seamlessly connecting robotics, conveyors, and precision handling equipment to MES, SCADA, and data acquisition platforms for real-time control and monitoring of flexible substrates.
  • Collaborate with process engineers to stabilize, optimize, and scale FPCB manufacturing by implementing advanced process control (APC), closed-loop feedback, and data-driven optimization to improve yield, throughput, OEE, and defect reduction.
  • Specify, design, and commission custom automation equipment, collaborating with OEMs and integrators to develop specialized FPCB machinery and leading Factory and Site Acceptance Testing.
  • Enable Industry 4.0 capabilities through real-time machine data collection, predictive maintenance, and digital dashboards with OEE tracking, while developing data-driven systems that leverage AI/ML for continuous process improvement.
  • Partner with process engineering, quality, operations, and R&D teams to support new product introduction (NPI) and technology transfer into production, while training technicians and operators on automated systems.

Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical or Mechanical, Required
  • 5+ years in FPCB, semiconductor, or microelectronics manufacturing, including cleanroom or precision production environments, preferred
  • Familiarity with MES and digital manufacturing platforms, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and design for manufacturability (DFM), preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong analytical problem-solver with the ability to translate complex processes into effective automation solutions
  • Hands-on engineer with system-level thinking and high attention to detail for precision manufacturing
  • Effective collaborator and communicator, able to work cross-functionally in technical environments
  • Automation & Controls: PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff), HMI/SCADA development (Ignition, WinCC, FactoryTalk), and multi-axis motion control systems
  • Robotics & Mechatronics: Integration and programming of industrial robots (Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, UR), EOAT design, and precision alignment/positioning for delicate materials
  • Machine Vision & Inspection: Deployment of vision and AOI systems (Keyence, Cognex, Omron) for defect detection and alignment verification
  • Software & Data Integration: Programming in Python, C/C++, Structured Text, with experience in automation scripting, APIs, and data integration
  • Industrial Communication & Networking: Design and implementation of industrial networks using Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP/IP, and OPC UA
