Procedure Tech
About the role
Jax Spine is seeking a strong Procedure Tech to support physicians during interventional pain procedures. The role involves preparing equipment, assisting during procedures, monitoring patient comfort, ensuring sterile technique, coordinating pre-procedural clearances, and maintaining procedural documentation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients, procedure room, equipment and supplies for interventions (e.g., epidural injections, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablations, spinal cord stimulator trials, kyphoplasty's, etc.)
- Absorb medications, position patients, and maintain a sterile field during interventional procedures
- Operate and troubleshoot fluoroscopy and ultrasound machines under physician supervision
- Maintain and sterilize instruments and ensure compliance with infection control standards
- Monitor patients pre- and post-procedure for vital signs and comfort
- Document procedure details accurately in the patient’s electronic health record (EHR)
- Cover pre-procedural medical clearances, including contacting cardiologists or primary care providers for cardiac risk assessment and anticoagulant management
- Track and follow up on lab results, EKGs, and clearance documentation to ensure patient readiness for scheduled procedures
- Restock and organize procedure room supplies
- Support patient education before and after procedures
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- BLS Certification
- At least 1 year of experience in a clinical, surgical or pain management setting
- Preferred: Certification as a Medical Assistant, Surgical Technologist, or Radiologic Technologist; Associate degree in a healthcare-related field
- Knowledge of sterile technique and procedural support
- Familiarity with pain management procedures and equipment
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and patient safety
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented with a compassionate, patient-first approach
- Able to measure and record vital signs, manually and electronically
- Basic computer knowledge required
- Able to read, analyze, interpret, and write medical records and documentation
- Able to record patient information, including a working knowledge of medical terminology
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- BLS Certification
- At least 1 year of experience in a clinical, surgical or pain management setting
- Preferred: Certification as a Medical Assistant, Surgical Technologist, or Radiologic Technologist; Associate degree in a healthcare-related field
