About the Role

Our McKinney nursing teams serve a very fast-paced, high-volume environment with consistently strong patient census and acuity.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a licensed professional using the nursing practice model to oversee patient care.
  • Assess patients, identify nursing diagnoses, and develop personalized care plans.
  • Regularly assess patient responses and adjust care plans for better results.
  • Help patients navigate healthcare safely by understanding their needs and the system, preventing complications and delays.
  • Delegate tasks based on Texas nursing laws, patient conditions, and staff skills.
  • Assess nursing practices to ensure quality and effectiveness, including tracking indicators, making changes based on research, and joining quality improvement initiatives.
  • Teach patients and staff, integrating education into care at all levels.
  • Use strategies and resources to solve problems for patients, families, and staff.
  • Contribute to decision-making and recognize others' contributions meaningfully.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of RN experience
  • 2+ years of procedural experience
  • Preferred: Procedural Pain experience or emergency room experience
  • Accredited program completion
  • Texas RN license
  • ACLS certification

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 7:45am to 4:15pm
  • No weekends or holidays

Patient Population & Setting

  • Outpatient procedural patients and outpatient OB patients
  • 3 preop rooms, 3 recovery bays, 5 exam rooms total in clinic
  • Multiple specialties; candidates must be flexible and able to work in different specialties within the department, sometimes multiple in the same day

Skills & Qualities

  • Expert in multitasking and flexibility
  • In-depth understanding of nursing and patient care standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of legal, regulatory, professional standards, certification/accreditation requirements, and departmental policies
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Able to monitor patients' health and communicate changes efficiently to nursing staff and healthcare providers
  • Committed to top-notch, patient-centered care that honors patient diversity, using the nursing process and following nursing standards
