The Job
You will perform:
- Operate the machine pre-feeder and press as needed to ensure continuous run.
- Keep the machine fed with stock, printing dies, cutting dies, and ink as needed.
- Perform hand labor such as gluing and other labor as needed.
- Mount print plates, both during setup and when returning tooling to the racking system.
- Be responsible for whichever function you are assigned to and act as the machine supply liaison and setup assistant.
- Perform set up duties on machines as assigned.
- Perform basic housekeeping tasks in support of machine operations; keep work area clean and free from clutter and debris.
- Ensure certain aspects of quality assurance are met.
- Complete work as assigned by the Supervisor and /or Machine Operator.
Skills Required
- Able to lift ink buckets weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Safely use T-handle wrenches for setting pull collars and slotting/scoring heads.
- Read a standard tape measure and read and understand job specification cards.
- Follow all safety rules and procedures; watch out for crew member’s safety at all times; always follow lock out and tag out procedures; always use personal protective equipment (steel toed shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs and safety vest, Kevlar gloves, etc.).
- Understand and follow directions.
- Add and subtract all units of measure; read and copy figures; count and record figures.
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form and to deal with problems.
Additional Duties
You will also be responsible for:
- Counting and stacking finished product.
- Reading factory orders.
- Utilizing basic shop math, inspecting.
- Accurately completing quality and administrative documents and following directions.
- Clean-up functions such as blowing down the machine, wiping off shafts, cleaning ink systems, vacuuming and sweeping the machine area, as well as picking up and shredding scrap.
