About the role

The County of Sonoma Probation Department seeks a Probation Account Clerk II to join our team. Starting salary ranges from $35.54/hour to $74,176/year, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process financial transactions, verifying documents for accuracy and compliance with procedures.
  • Authorize payments in accordance with County policies and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Respond to phone inquiries from probation clients, victims of crime, County staff, vendors, and members of the public regarding accounts, restitution payments, invoices, and other program-related matters.
  • Research and update account information while ensuring accurate records are maintained in department databases.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, including retrieving USPS and interoffice mail, preparing correspondence and payments for mailing, and processing returned mail.
  • Perform accounts payable functions by entering vouchers into the County's financial system.
  • Organize and maintain financial and administrative files.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of methods, practices, and terminology used in financial and statistical clerical work, including working knowledge of costs and budgetary accounting principles.
  • Basic arithmetic to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and percentages.
  • Modern office policies, regulations, and procedures related to account or statistical records maintained.
  • Database, spreadsheet, and word processing applications.
