About the role
Fort Bend County is seeking an individual to assist with the review and audit of annual, final, and supplemental accountings filed in probate and guardianship cases.
Responsibilities
- Verify that required financial documentation is complete and complies with applicable statutes and court requirements.
- Examine receipts, disbursements, inventories, bank statements, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
- Identify discrepancies, omissions, or irregularities and prepare documentation for auditor review.
- Maintain accurate electronic and physical case files.
- Enter and update information in the county case management system.
- Prepare correspondence, notices, reports, and audit-related documents.
- Respond to inquiries from attorneys, fiduciaries, financial institutions, and the public regarding filing requirements and audit procedures.
- Schedule appointments and maintain audit calendars as assigned.
- Assist in preparing files for court hearings and judicial review.
- Ensure confidential information is handled in accordance with county policies and applicable laws.
- Maintain knowledge of Texas Estates Code, Local Court Rules, and probate procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Strong filing skills.
- Typing preferred but not required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other county employees, elected officials and co-workers.
- Self-starter skills, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt and cope with fast-paced office.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and required auto insurance.
- 1-year prior probate experience.

SALARY RANGE: $16.00 - $22.00 hourly depending on experience, Part-Time, 16-18 hours per week
