About the role

Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA) seeks a dedicated, licensed Florida attorney for its Pro Bono Deputy Director role. This is a full-time position working in JALA’s downtown Jacksonville office. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Pro Bono Unit, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of pro bono services.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase pro bono participation among attorneys and recruit new volunteers.
  • Liaise with legal professionals to facilitate pro bono opportunities and coordinate case assignments.
  • Mentor and support attorneys in developing their pro bono skills and case management techniques.
  • Manage the Pro Bono Unit budget and resources, ensuring fiscal responsibility and compliance with legal and organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with JALA’s leadership team to align pro bono initiatives with broader organizational goals and strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • Current Florida bar membership.
  • At least 3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in civil litigation or related fields.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with legal research and writing.

$70,000 yearly minimum, DOE
