About the Role

The Supplemental Speech Pathologist evaluates and rehabilitates patients of all ages with communication and oral-pharyngeal disorders, documents findings and progress, and provides patient and caregiver instruction. They assist in program development, serve as a clinical resource and mentor, and oversee training of assistants, students, interns, and technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments and provide therapy for communication and swallowing disorders, particularly with neurological or functional causes.
  • Document clinical findings, progress, and treatment plans.
  • Offer recommendations and support program development.
  • Mentor and supervise staff, interns, and technicians to ensure quality patient care.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and participate in departmental initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current state license and ASHA certification.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • 1-2 years of acute care experience, with expertise in Modified Barium Swallow Studies.
  • Ability to mentor staff, lead clinical initiatives, and work collaboratively.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds, stand, walk, and perform required movements.
  • Strong communication skills, fine motor skills, and visual acuity for monitoring equipment and patient interactions.

Schedule

PRN coverage for weekends, holidays, and vacations, with a minimum commitment of three weekend shifts. Training provided; flexible scheduling with hours starting at 8 am.
