Job Summary

Plan and administer medically prescribed speech therapy programs for patients with speech, language, swallowing, or cognitive disorders. Focus on restoring function, preventing disability, and helping patients reintegrate into society.

Job Responsibilities

  • Review prescriptions, medical records, and patient conditions to tailor speech therapy plans.
  • Test and assess speech and language abilities, document findings, and develop treatment plans.
  • Create and update comprehensive treatment programs, collaborating with patients and families.
  • Evaluate treatment effectiveness, adjust plans, and prepare progress reports.
  • Evaluate patient and family learning needs, provide education, and ensure timely communication.
  • Contact referring physicians and other healthcare providers for patient updates and treatment adjustments.
  • Discharge patients upon meeting goals or discontinuing therapy, preparing discharge reports.
  • Coordinate ongoing services and follow-ups as necessary.
  • Supervise and train support staff, including rehab aides, students, and volunteers.
  • Participate in professional development, including lectures and training sessions.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives such as referral development, marketing, and policy creation.
  • Comply with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations, including HIPAA compliance.

Education Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 0 years of clinical experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist

License/Certification Requirements

  • State-issued license
  • CPR certification
  • ACLS certification (not required)
  • PALS certification (not required)
  • American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred
