Duties and responsibilities
- Prepare procedure rooms and operating rooms by sterilizing instruments, arranging supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly for scheduled surgeries.
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, suturing wounds, and managing surgical tools with precision.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
- Demonstrate proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and analysis skills to anticipate the needs of the surgical team effectively.
Requirements
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist from an accredited program is required.
- Proven OR experience with a strong background in aseptic technique, suturing, and infection control practices is preferred but not required.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are a plus.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pediatric care considerations.
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced settings such as ambulatory surgery centers while maintaining attention to detail.
