PRN RN Emergency Days

Job Responsibilities

• Triage patients based on the critical nature and severity of their condition.
• Assess patient condition through visual evaluation, medication reconciliation, and vital sign measurements.
• Administer medication and assist with medical procedures as prescribed by the treating physician.
• Maintain vigilance for changes in patient condition and communicate effectively with relevant parties.
• Collaborate with other members of the patient care team in providing procedures, interventions, discharge, or admission processes.
• Chart all patient medical history, contact information, condition, medications, and treatment updates in the electronic medical record.
• Ensure accuracy and consistency of charting with department and organizational standards.
• Discharge patients from the Emergency Department after treatment, completing discharge instructions and educating the patient/caregiver.
• Answer questions and confirm transportation arrangements for discharged patients.

Education Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse Program by date of hire.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum: Two (2) years of Critical Care experience.
• Preferred: Two (2) years of Emergency Department experience.

License & Certification Requirements

• Registered Nurse - licensed to practice in the state of Indiana upon hire date.
• American Heart Association Certifications:
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - upon date of hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - within 90 days of hire or transfer to position.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - within 90 days of hire or transfer to position.
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) - within 90 days of hire or transfer to position.

Preferred

• CEN, TNCC, NRP
