PRN Registered Nurse Neuro Trauma

About the role
As a Registered Nurse, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in line with department requirements and state/specialty standards. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." You will act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization's vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes.
The unit is a 20-bed Neuro Trauma department with private rooms, offering specialized neuro/trauma experience, 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratios with PCT support, strong professional growth opportunities, and a supportive team. This is a flexible PRN schedule with a minimum commitment ranging from 3 shifts a month to 3 shifts a week.
Responsibilities
- Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers, ensuring thorough and timely documentation of care in the patient's medical record.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response.
- Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or holds an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
- BLS certification required upon hire.
- Minimum 1 year of Neuro Trauma experience.
