PRN Pulmonary Critical Care Physician - days
Position Summary
The Pulmonary and Critical Care Physician provides comprehensive care for adult patients with respiratory and critical illness across both inpatient and outpatient settings. This role includes management of ICU patients, performance of critical care procedures, performance of pulmonary procedures and bronchoscopy, and longitudinal care of patients with pulmonary disease in clinic and hospital consultative settings. The physician functions within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care across the continuum.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to critically ill patients in the ICU, including management of mechanical ventilation, shock, and multi-organ failure.
- Perform critical care procedures such as intubation, central line placement, arterial line placement, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion and thoracentesis.
- Deliver outpatient and inpatient pulmonary consultations for pulmonary conditions.
- Interpret pulmonary function tests, imaging, and laboratory data relevant to pulmonary and critical care medicine.
- Participate in ICU coverage rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the service model.
- Provider continuity of care through outpatient pulmonary clinic services, including longitudinal follow-up and coordination with primary care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and subspecialists to optimize patient outcomes.
- Document clearly, accurately, and promptly in the EHR.
- Provide excellent patient experience with clear communication of the treatment plans and medications.
- Demonstrate professionalism, clinical leadership and effective collaboration with colleagues, staff, and referring providers across care settings.
