Responsibilities
- Physically support clients with personal needs and activities of daily living.
- Assist in planning and setting up individual and group activities.
- Create the monthly program schedule for activities engaging clients.
- Maintain a safe and supervised environment for clients.
- Encourage clients to participate and communicate.
- Document information for client files and maintain required records.
- Safely operate the specialized bus equipped with features for accommodating individuals with physical disabilities.
- Aid passengers with boarding and exiting the bus, utilizing wheelchair lifts or ramps as needed.
- Secure wheelchairs and mobility devices properly to ensure stability during transit.
- Communicate effectively with passengers and/or their caregivers to provide assistance and address any concerns or special needs.
- Follow designated routes and schedules while adhering to traffic regulations and safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the bus interior and ensure accessibility features are in working condition.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify the operational status of the vehicle and report any issues promptly.
- Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies or unforeseen circumstances, prioritizing passenger safety at all times.
- Provide courteous and respectful service to passengers, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Collaborate with Turnstone Adult Day Service staff to coordinate routes, schedules, and special accommodations for passengers.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- A clean driving record: free of DUI/DWI, reckless driving citations, at-fault accidents, license suspensions or revocations, and minimal or no moving violations.
- Up to date CPR and First Aid Certification, or obtained upon hire.
- Physical ability to assist passengers with boarding, securing mobility devices, and navigating the bus.
- Caregiving experience (preferred).
- Activity planning experience (preferred).
- Ability to lift, handle, push or pull 50 lbs. alone or 100 lbs. with support from someone else.
