PRN Pharmacist

NW Staffing LLC (dba Express Rx) — Retail Pharmacy. Reports directly to the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) with indirect reporting to the RVP of Pharmacy Operations.

About the role

The PRN Pharmacist oversees all aspects of the retail pharmacy, particularly when the PIC and/or Staff Pharmacist is not present. The primary focus is pharmacy employee supervision, prescription processing, and patient interaction and communication. Additional duties include preparing the pharmacy for business, inventory control, and data entry. The role requires the ability to work well in a fast‑paced environment and strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain records of all pharmacy transactions to ensure accurate control over and accountability for all drugs as required by applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations; ensure legal operation of the pharmacy, including meeting all inspection and other regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of all prescription transactions and submit appropriate claims for third‑party reimbursement.
• Consult with physicians and nurses regarding pharmaceutical questions; advise physicians on formulary medications and cost‑effective, innovative therapies.
• Answer pharmaceutical questions from patients and staff.
• Monitor storage, distribution, and use of pharmaceuticals.
• Provide training, assign duties, and provide input for performance evaluations.
• Document and report medication errors to the direct supervisor.
• Maintain close control over all operations at the store level.
• Perform final check of all prescriptions.
• Perform all required patient counseling.
• Perform pre‑verification tasks.
• Follow all requirements, regulations, and laws currently maintained by the DEA, the State Board of Pharmacy in which the pharmacist holds a license, and all other applicable regulatory bodies.

Requirements

• National certification required.
• Registered and licensed with the State Board of Pharmacy required.
• Experience as a Pharmacist in a retail environment preferred.
• PharmD or BS in Pharmacy required.
• Immunization certification a plus.
• Proven focus on patient care required.
• Outstanding organizational skills required.
• Experience with Pioneer pharmacy software a plus.
