PRN Pharmacist

About the role

The PRN Pharmacist oversees all aspects of the retail pharmacy, especially when the Principal Investigator (PIC) and/or Staff Pharmacist is not present. Their main responsibilities include pharmacy employee supervision, prescription processing, and patient interaction/communication.

Responsibilities

• Maintains records of all transactions of the pharmacy necessary to ensure accurate control over, and accountability for, all drugs as required by applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
• Ensures legal operation of the pharmacy, including meeting all inspection and other requirements of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing pharmacy operations.
• Maintains accurate records of all prescription transactions and submits appropriate claims for third-party reimbursement.
• Consults with physicians and nurses regarding pharmaceutical questions.
• Advise physicians on formulary medications and cost-effective and innovative therapies.
• Answers pharmaceutical questions from patients and staff.
• Monitors storage, distribution, and use of pharmaceuticals.
• Provides training, assigns duties, and provides input for performance evaluations.
• Documents and reports medication errors to direct supervisor.
• Maintains close control over all operations at store level.

Requirements

• National Certification required
• Registered and Licensed with State Board of Pharmacy required
• Experience as a Pharmacist in a retail environment preferred
• PharmD or BS in Pharmacy
• Immunization Certification a plus
• Proven focus on patient care required
• Outstanding organizational skills
• Experience with Pioneer pharmacy software is a plus
