PRN Nurse Practitioner
About the role
We're seeking Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) in the Springfield area. Advanced Practitioners provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. They function in lieu of or alongside of a physician, recognizing more serious conditions and directing patients to the emergency room when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Examining and treating patients
- Taking patients' medical histories
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
- Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
- Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
- Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
- Educating and counseling patients
- Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
- Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants, Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
- Work Experience: 2-5 years of post-residency clinical experience required, Minimum 18 months experience in applicable practice setting required, Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred
- Licenses/Certifications: National Certification (ANNC or AANP), Active state medical licensure
