About the role
Labcorp is seeking a Medical Transcriptionist to join our team on a PRN schedule.
Responsibilities
- Transcribe and dictate grossing and microscopic descriptions of surgical pathology cases comprised of moderately difficult medical terminology.
- Accurate and timely data entry of dictated and/or handwritten pathology cases into the laboratory information system.
- Provide complete and accurate resolution to all user inquiries or redirect the inquirer to the appropriate resource(s) in a timely manner.
- Identify problems, determine and provide/implement appropriate corrective action or accurate solutions.
- Research, troubleshoot, and follow up to ensure all inquiries or problems are resolved in a timely manner.
- Transcribe medical reports, summaries, office visit notes, and other medical documents from recorded messages from healthcare providers.
- Provide online copies of transcribed documents to physicians or other providers for review and signature, making corrections or changes as noted.
- Work with transcription and dictation equipment, including speech recognition equipment, word processing, and computer software.
- Maintain strict adherence to patient confidentiality according to provider standards and government regulations.
- Review transcription documents for quality assurance and precision to spot and correct any errors that could impact patient care and medical liability.
- Create templates and enter data into electronic health record (EHR) systems for updated record keeping and archives.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years or more of medical transcriptionist experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years or more of transcriptionist experience in Pathology.
- Prior experience with transcriptionist software.
- Excellent data entry and typing skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Pay
$22.00 - $32.00 per hour.
