PRN Medical Assistant Intern - SouthPark Dermatology

About the role

The Medical Assistant Intern will support the department as assigned, while gaining experience and educational opportunities. This is a PRN position that will support the Dermatology team at SouthPark, Monday & Wednesday 8 am to 5 pm.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms/procedure room
• Interview patients
• Measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature
• Collect patient history
• Perform screenings per provider guidelines
• Other physical examination preparations
• Document all information in patient’s chart
• Assist patients as needed with walking transfers, dressing, collecting specimens
• Assemble patients’ health information including patient symptoms and medical history, exam results, X-ray reports, lab tests, diagnoses, and treatment plans
• Ensure all related reports, labs and information is available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment
• Review to ensure all forms are completed, properly identified, and signed and that all necessary information in the EHR
• Communicate as needed with physicians and other health care professionals to clarify diagnoses or obtain additional information
• Obtain and send patient medical records to support seamless care delivery
• Administer injections after completing Tryon training certification
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in or have a degree from an accredited university/college undergraduate or graduate program, with a focus on medicine
• Must be on track to return to medical school or complete Physician Assistant program
