Employment Type: PRN (as needed)
Compensation: $27.50 per hour

About the Role

Provide professional care to service users aimed at preventing disease and maintaining good health. Join our team to make a real difference in the lives of people with intellectual, developmental disabilities, and those facing mental health and substance use challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Assist the Registered Nurse in delivering quality nursing services to persons supported
  • Provide health-related training to unlicensed personnel
  • Administer medications and treatments or assist the person supported with medication administration
  • Assist with ensuring preventative and routine medical appointments are scheduled
  • Conduct medication closet assessments
  • Collect health-related data
  • Observe for and report any abnormal health-related findings to the physician
  • Communicate with physicians, pharmacies, medical suppliers, and the Interdisciplinary Team
  • Advocate for the people supported and assist with developing community supports to promote optimal health

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited licensed nurse program
  • Current nursing license with no restrictions to practice nursing
  • Current CPR Certification or eligibility to obtain certification
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Interdisciplinary Team Members, the people supported, and their families
  • Ability to work independently, be organized, and prioritize work tasks

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to regularly lift 20 pounds and lift a minimum of 40 pounds
  • Ability to pull a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Ability to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop
  • Ability to regularly stand and walk
  • Proficiency in CPR from the floor level
  • Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision
  • Ability to communicate effectively
