About the role

Select OrthoDME Holdings (SOH) is a growing nationwide company that provides management and administration of orthoses and durable medical equipment (DME) to orthopedic practices. The DMEPOS Coordinator/Ambulatory Surgery Center Clinician is a trained member of the physician’s team, responsible for fitting, refitting, custom measurement, patient education, prior authorization, collection of deductible/coinsurance, and patient satisfaction. They also conduct post-operative evaluations and develop rehabilitation treatment plans.

Responsibilities

  • Fitting, patient education, and collection of patient portion for DMEPOS products
  • Obtaining necessary documentation and authorization for payer requirements
  • Maintaining and ordering inventory for clinics
  • Promoting good relations with external case managers, payers, suppliers, and surgical personnel
  • Documenting custom measurements, ABNs, MAEs, and LMNs as needed
  • Working with a team of DMEPOS Coordinators, Billing Compliance Officers, and Implementation Managers
  • Providing comprehensive and coordinated care for post-operative patients in the surgery center
  • Evaluating patients for safety to leave the surgery center post-surgery
  • Transporting post-operative patients from surgery center to vehicle
  • Consulting with surgeons to determine follow-up care plans
  • Coordinating interdisciplinary resources for physical/occupational therapy
  • Education on use of ambulatory devices and necessary precautions
  • Managing relationships with surgeons, nursing staff, and administration
  • Maintaining and upholding surgery center continuing education requirements, policies, and procedures

Requirements

  • Wisconsin Athletic Training Licensure
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Alpha and numeric data entry skills
  • The ability to work quickly and accurately and pay attention to detail
  • Establish/maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients, employees, and the public
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, insurance claims, and benefits
  • Excellent skills in verbal and written communication and patient care
  • Judgment, decision making, and time management skills
  • Ability to organize multiple projects and assignments at once

Preferred Education and Experience

  • DME or orthoses related medical experience
  • Acute rehabilitation knowledge and concepts
  • Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices and basic medical coding

The employee must frequently lift or move items weighing 20 pounds or more, in addition to sometimes lifting items weighing 5 pounds or more overhead. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are based upon clinical needs. Travel minimum is expected for training purposes or satellite clinic needs.
