About the role
Buffalo City Transitional Living is seeking dedicated Direct Care Associates to join our team. We are hiring for temporary positions with various shifts available. Temporary positions are part-time, ongoing and on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities
- Connect with clients and support them on their recovery journey.
- Aid individuals to identify their goals for recovery, learning, and life.
- Aid in generalizing the skills clients learn during substance use and mental health groups.
- Assist in developing effective communication and socialization skills, as well as teaching self-advocacy and self-help strategies.
- Observe and monitor individuals' condition, documenting and reporting any changes in well-being.
- Assist clients in the administration of their medication.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Experience providing direct care to special populations is preferred.
- A valid driver's license and successful completion of the assigned defensive driving course during new-hire orientation.
Qualifications
- Empathetic individual with a passion for teaching life skills and overcoming barriers.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of substance use and mental health groups.
