PRN Clinical Laboratory Technician II

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen collection, including patient preparation, if applicable, labeling, handling, preservation or fixation, processing or preparation, transportation and storage of specimens.
• Maintain regulatory compliance according to CLIA and CAP requirements.
• Participate in hospital and laboratory quality management programs and maintain records and documentation appropriately.
• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Maintain records demonstrating proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
• Adhere to quality control policies, document all quality control and other activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and equipment maintenance activities.
• Identify and correct problems affecting test performance or reporting of test results, or report issues to leadership.
• Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
• Track and maintain inventory of supplies and reagents.
• Prepare chemicals and reagents for processing.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
• Training completed and documented prior to performing testing or analyzing patient specimens.
• Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Skills

• Excellent verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology.
• Clinical Laboratory science, chemical, physical or biological science.
• High School Graduate preferred.
• Job-related experience in clinical diagnostic lab.
