PRN Associate Clinical Therapist

We’re looking for an Associate Clinical Therapist to work alongside a licensed professional, assessing and treating individuals with mental illnesses or substance abuse problems. Services include individual and group therapy, outreach, crisis intervention, social rehabilitation, and teaching everyday living skills for patients of all ages (children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric) in a behavioral health environment.

Qualifications

Minimum education, certification, and/or licensure:

• Master’s Degree in a related field
• Must possess ONE of the following licenses as required by the state board where services will be provided:
  • WV: Temporary Social Worker License OR Licensed Graduate Social Worker through the West Virginia Board of Social Work OR Licensed Professional Counselor Temporary Permit or Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor through the West Virginia Board of Examiners in Counseling
  • OH: Licensed Social Worker through the Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist Board
  • MD: Licensed Master Social Worker OR Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor through the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners
  • PA: Licensed Social Worker through the Pennsylvania Department of State Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs

Responsibilities

• Provide psychosocial assessments of patients and families to identify emotional, social, and environmental strengths and problems related to their diagnosis, illness, treatment, and/or life situation.
• Assist in creating a comprehensive psychosocial treatment plan utilizing appropriate clinical social work treatments and interventions. Interventions may include crisis intervention, brief and long-term individual, marital, family and/or group therapies, as well as grief and bereavement work.
• Screen, identify, diagnose, and assist in treatment of mental health and/or substance abuse problems in patients and family members.
• Assist with screening, identification, diagnosis, management, and treatment of victims of abuse, neglect, domestic violence, rape, etc.
• Maintain a working knowledge of relevant medical/legal issues that affect patient care, e.g., advance directives, child and elder abuse.
• Provide education to patients and families around issues related to adaptation to the patient's diagnosis, illness, treatment, and/or life situation.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary health care teams.
• Maintain working knowledge of and liaison with community agencies and resources.
• Knowledge of hospital, medical center, and/or health system resources to access and provide for patient care needs.
• Document assessment, plan, interactions, and interventions according to departmental, hospital, and/or health system guidelines and standards.
• Attend and participate in staff, committee, department, and other administrative meetings.
• Keep current with social work and health care developments and seek to increase further enhancement of job-related knowledge.

Working Environment

Normal clinical office environment in a behavioral health clinical setting.
