About the role
The Richmond office of McGuireWoods seeks a Counsel to join its Tax & Employee Benefits Department. McGuireWoods’ Private Wealth Services Practice Group provides 360-degree advisory services that enable individuals and institutions to operate successfully in a highly competitive environment. The group is distinguished by its roster of sought-after thought leaders who frequently serve in leadership roles for pre-eminent organizations. They advise on wealth, tax, and fiduciary matters for individuals and closely held businesses.
Responsibilities
- Advise on effective estate and succession planning to achieve clients' short- and long-term goals.
- Provide counsel on sophisticated estate planning and transfer tax issues, trust and estate administration, and fiduciary advice matters.
- Have a solid working understanding of estate tax, gift tax, and GST tax issues.
- Interact with client, business, and legal teams with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in a trusts and estates practice.
- Experience in sophisticated estate planning and transfer tax issues, trust and estate administration, and fiduciary advice matters.
- A strong academic record, excellent writing, and oral communication skills.
- Required to be a member of the Virginia State Bar.
