Private Wealth Services Associate (Mid to Senior Level) - San Diego
About the role
Greenberg Traurig (GT), a global law firm, seeks a full-time Associate in the Private Wealth Services Practice of our San Diego office. The position offers competitive compensation and an excellent benefits package.
Responsibilities
- Design and draft complex estate planning documents, including Revocable Trusts, ILITs, SLATs, IDGTs, GRATs, and related wealth transfer structures.
- Manage and oversee complex trust and estate administrations, including trust modifications, decantings, mergers, nonjudicial settlement agreements, and trust terminations.
- Conduct sophisticated legal research and analysis involving multijurisdictional and occasionally cross-border estate planning considerations.
- Provide comprehensive, integrated advice on income and transfer tax matters, considering current and anticipated changes in tax and state laws.
- Collaborate closely with clients to develop tailored strategies that preserve, protect, and maximize their legacies.
- Work with clients from various industries across the country, providing personalized solutions and seamless counsel.
Requirements
- Senior-level associate (4–8 years of experience) with a proven track record in sophisticated estate planning for high-net-worth individuals and families.
- Exceptional mid-level candidates with strong credentials and demonstrated leadership ability will also be considered.
- Highly detail-oriented, proactive, and able to supervise and mentor junior associates, while independently managing complex matters.
- Extensive experience designing and drafting complex estate planning documents, including Revocable Trusts, ILITs, SLATs, IDGTs, GRATs, and related wealth transfer structures.
- Experience with the transfer of QSBS stock, business interests, and real estate, including addressing the complexities of entity structures, valuation, succession planning, and tax implications.
- Proven ability to manage and oversee complex trust and estate administrations, including trust modifications, decantings, mergers, nonjudicial settlement agreements, and trust terminations.
- Strong research, drafting, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills, with a commitment to producing high-quality work and supervising junior team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a fast-paced law firm setting.
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior attorneys.
- LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning (preferred but not required).

Pay
The expected pay range for this position is $249,000 to $325,000 per year. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
