Private Wealth Management Director of Business Strategy
About the Role
Directors of Business Strategy provide exceptional service to clients and support Financial Advisor(s) (FAs)/Private Wealth Advisor(s) (PWAs)/teams on a daily basis. This senior service-level position is responsible for enhancing and maintaining deep relationships with new and existing clients, leading the development, implementation, and management of the team’s overall business strategy.
Responsibilities
- Cultivate relationships with business partners and colleagues internally and externally.
- Support the FA/PWA/team in cultivating and enhancing new and existing client relationships through an exceptional client experience.
- Play a leadership role in assisting the FA/PWA/team in developing and delivering against their client service model, including preparing for regular meetings and tracking follow-ups.
- Assist the FA/PWA/team in developing and executing their business plan and strategies, partnering closely with other market stakeholders such as Practice Strategy Consultants, Business Development Managers, and Market Management.
- Prepare and review various client reports or financial plans from firm-approved systems for existing or prospective clients at the direction of the client and/or FA/PWA/team.
- Participate in existing client and/or prospective client meetings at the request of the FA/PWA/team, representing the service lens.
- Collaborate with the FA/PWA/team and other business partners to optimize business practice efficiencies.
- May allocate work among a team of Support Professionals.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in a field relevant to the position.
- Advanced degree or professional certification or prior industry experience required.
- Active Series 7 (GS) and Series 66 (AG/RA) or Series 63 (AG) and Series 65 (RA) required.
- If required, obtain and maintain CFP or CFA designation.
- Additional product licenses may be required.
Skills
- Strong leadership skills.
- Knowledge of financial services products, including but not limited to equities, bonds, options, mutual funds, annuities, insurance, and managed accounts.
- Technically proficient and quick learner of new and updated platforms.
- Detail-oriented with superior organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
- Expert knowledge of basic personal computer, MS Office (particularly MS Excel), and internet applications.
- Exceptional writing, interpersonal, and client service skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Team player with the ability to collaborate with others.

Pay
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $90,000 and $150,000 per year at the commencement of employment. Base pay is determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
Reports to Market Business Service Officer and/or Business Service Officer.
