Private Skate Instructor

About the role

Teaches private skate lessons at the level of their Professional Skater's Association (P.S.A.) or equivalent instructor's rating.

Responsibilities

  • Enforces ice skating rules and regulations necessary for the safety of skating patrons.
  • Reports all exceptional occurrences to the supervisor.
  • Cleans and maintains Skate Instructor's locker room.
  • Attends scheduled Pro Staff meetings.
  • Maintains a P.S.A. or equivalent rating for ice skating instruction.
  • Conducts annual goal meetings with parent/guardian of the skater.
  • Performs any other related or similar duties as assigned.
  • Absorb by the employees rules of conduct and performance, stated in the City of Fort Collins Employee Manual along with specific ethics standards for an Ice Skating Instructor set by the Professional Skaters Association, P.S.A. or equivalent and EPIC.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must attain Professional First Aid and Professional CPR certificates within the first 2 months of employment.
  • Must acquire a P.S.A. or equivalent rating in the appropriate field(s) within the first 18 months of employment to teach past a Pre-Juvenile/Pre-Bronze level.
  • Has ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, subordinates and the general public.
  • Effective communication skills with all ages.
  • Minimum 6 months in the EPIC Coaches Mentorship Program.
  • Stooping, bending and lifting up to forty pounds required.
  • Advance ice skating ability required.
  • Minimum of 2 years as a Group Skate Instructor or equivalence in experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the sport of figure skating.
  • Must commit to working our Learn to Skate Program in addition to Private Lesson Coaching.

  • Works under the direct supervision of the Ice Coordinator.
  • No supervision exercised.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence to effectively interact, work, and develop meaningful relationships with people of diverse identities, perspectives, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong learning orientation.
  • Leverages all resources and is creative in ways of learning for self to continue adapting to changing issues and trends.
  • A desire and ability to understand the diverse needs of internal and external customers, and to create experiences and deliver services that exceed their expectations.
  • A desire and ability to utilize digital tools for organizational information, individual, and teamwork.
