Private Investigator

About the role

DigiStream Investigations, a fast-growing, national private investigation firm, is seeking a Surveillance Investigator to join our team in New Jersey (multiple locations). This role offers excitement, travel, autonomy, and purpose, ideal for individuals with an adventurous and curious spirit. You’ll provide clients with the evidence they need to defend their cases while gaining experience in covert investigations and opportunities for growth within the company.

What you’ll do

• Monitor, follow, and videotape subjects during their day-to-day activities.
• Conduct vehicle and foot pursuits while maintaining cover.
• Film subjects in various locations, such as grocery stores, restaurants, sporting events, or casinos.
• Develop pre-surveillance strategies based on location and case details.
• Write detailed reports on observed activities and submit video evidence.
• Maintain regular communication with your team leader on setup positions, activity, and tactics.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Ability to work 50 hours per week on average (includes commute and drive time).
• Willingness to travel and stay overnight on remote assignments.
• Availability to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to start work as early as 5:00 am daily, with occasional evening work.
• Must currently live in New Jersey.
• Ability to pass DMV check and background check.
• Confident driving skills.
• No PI license required—we cover the licensure cost and guide you through the process.

Note: This position does not require a daily commute to an office or motor pool. Your surveillance vehicle is entrusted to you and kept at your residence. Travel to and from assignments will begin and end at your home.

Pay

Starting pay: $19.00 per hour, plus frequent overtime (time and a half).

Schedule

• Average of 10–12 hours per day, 5 days per week.
• Must be available to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
