About the role

Mercer’s M&A Advisory Services team is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Private Equity Strategic Growth Manager HR M&A Consultant to advise Private Equity Firms and their portfolio companies throughout the acquisition and value creation lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Build and deepen long-term relationships with private equity firms, portfolio company executives, and key stakeholders to understand their investment philosophy and operational priorities.
  • Lead all areas of human capital by delivering Mercer’s services to private equity clients and their portfolio companies throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Serve as the key intersection point between Mercer and Marsh, building strong rapport and relationships with Marsh PEMA team members, and acting as the go-to Mercer human capital advisory lead for private equity clients and their portfolio companies.
  • Drive revenue growth by identifying and capturing value-added opportunities throughout M&A engagements, including post-investment and exit preparation, ensuring high client satisfaction and long-term partnership sustainability.
  • Collaborate with Mercer Transaction Advisory leaders and other Mercer practice consultants to provide guidance and leadership in delivering client solutions, while proactively supporting business development alongside Marsh client managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum 10 years of Private Equity M&A HR, human capital, and employee benefits experience with deep knowledge of deal cycles, deal structures, value drivers, and the M&A landscape.
  • Advanced understanding of private equity and portfolio company dynamics.
  • Proficient knowledge of business models, finance, and industry terminology.
  • Prowess in client acquisition and relationship management skills managing complex, multi-level stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience supporting HR-related business transformation initiatives.
  • Solid foundation in all areas of human capital (e.g., total rewards, HR systems).
  • Established project management and time management capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with AI tools.

Pay

  • The applicable base salary range for this role is $133,200 to $266,400.
  • Base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements.
  • Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Schedule

  • This position may be eligible for hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office.
  • All Marsh colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week.
  • Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.
