Private Cloud Engineer

About the role

Barclays Services Corp. is seeking a Private Cloud Engineer in Whippany, NJ. This role involves building, supporting, and maintaining Barclays' on-premise Private Cloud based on VMware Cloud Foundation. Tasks include working via Agile methodology to deliver Cloud-related projects to business and other stakeholders, maintaining the Cloud infrastructure, assisting the Service Operations Cloud Team, covering client escalations, providing incident stack coverage, and taking lead on regularly assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

• Build, support, and maintain Barclays on-premise Private Cloud based on VMware Cloud Foundation.
• Work via Agile methodology to deliver Cloud-related projects to business and other stakeholders.
• Maintain the Cloud infrastructure by completing all vulnerability patching, system upgrades, and releases.
• Aid the Service Operations Cloud Team and handle client escalations as needed.
• Provide incident stack coverage on a rotational basis.
• Provide a build function as required.
• Interact with clients, discuss, plan, and implement projects.
• Take lead on regularly assigned tasks via the Agile process (JIRAs) and complete them in a timely manner.
• Cover any Level 3 type escalations and communicate with stakeholders as required.
• Ensure all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework, and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.
• May telecommute pursuant to company policies.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure management, preferably in a private cloud environment.
• Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation and other relevant cloud technologies.
• Strong understanding of ITIL, DevOps, and Agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of network architecture, security protocols, and compliance standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Professional certifications in ITIL, CISSP, or equivalent.

Skills

• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, PowerShell.
• Experience with cloud orchestration tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Kubernetes.
• Understanding of cloud security principles and practices.
• Good understanding of virtualization technologies and networking.

Pay

Minimum Salary: $120,000 per year
Maximum Salary: $175,000 per year

Schedule

This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule.
