Private Cellular Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Private Cellular Engineer to develop standards, solution architectures, and roadmaps for private Cellular and Radio infrastructure. This individual will collaborate with business-facing teams and users to design solutions that meet business requirements for cellular network demands across North America locations. The role involves analyzing requirements, designing technical solutions for complex problems, and evaluating the technical and economic feasibility of systems solutions throughout the technology life cycle.
The Cellular Engineer will support department objectives by ensuring the stability and availability of cellular/radio network hardware and software, planning capacity for Campus, Manufacturing sites, Data Centers, and other remote sites. Collaboration with other network teams (LAN, WAN, Security) and domain architects is essential to evaluate and introduce new technology standards.
Responsibilities
- Support Private Cellular initiatives, including Proof of Concepts and Production deployments.
- Own and fulfill small to large strategic or tactical Private Cellular projects.
- Function as a point of escalation for project execution issues.
- Design, test, and implement new Cellular/Radio solutions and Proof of Concepts.
- Assist with vendor and solution selection processes.
- Lead weekly project status meetings.
- Conduct and/or coordinate site surveys and develop site plans to achieve total facility coverage.
- Coordinate resources, track execution, and validate new deployments, upgrades, and expansions.
- Supervise and/or perform site installs, maintenance, upgrades, or software enhancements to support cellular DAS/Private Cellular infrastructure needs.
- Serve as a point of escalation for operational issues and work with vendors for timely resolution.
- Submit and track Change Management for all Cellular/Radio systems.
- Monitor systems for trouble areas, proactively resolve issues, and document root causes.
- Support service tickets as needed during enterprise cellular deployments.
- Engage with manufacturer technical support centers to quickly resolve issues.
- Create and maintain Operational Support Guides and other documentation.
- Travel to sites as required to support deployments, testing, and validation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- 8 to 10 years of professional experience.
- High-level teaming and communication skills to influence and persuade others.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create and present concepts and recommendations to management.
- Experience with Cellular Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and signal boosting solutions.
- Experience designing and deploying Private Cellular solutions (Private 4G/5G on licensed and/or CBRS spectrums).
- Strong understanding of Network technologies and TCP/IP protocols (LAN, WAN, WLAN) and firewalls.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with analysis and performance evaluation tools such as Wireshark, iPerf, etc.
- Extensive experience with Wireless technologies and knowledge of RF and LTE Networks.
- Willingness and ability to learn new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher certification.
- Experience designing and deploying Private Cellular Network solutions.
Schedule
Standard business hours with limited travel expected. Hybrid work arrangement based in Plano, TX.
This is a long-term contract position.
