Privacy and Security Counsel

Evaluation of Privacy Terms

You will evaluate data protection terms in contracts, marketing materials, and Roblox policies.

Drafting and Compliance

• Draft external privacy notices and disclosures and manage/update internal policies and procedures in accordance with global laws bearing on privacy.
• Support workstreams involving user requests and facilitate privacy rights.
• Inform privacy compliance including counseling on Data Protection Impact Assessments and privacy requirements.

Regulatory Monitoring and Compliance

• Monitor, research, and communicate federal, state, and international regulatory developments to identify risk factors that can affect Roblox's business and operations.
• Counsel on matters relating to user and employee data practices.
• Remain up-to-date on relevant privacy and platform laws, regulations, enforcement actions, and evolving industry standards to provide an ongoing ability to provide sound compliance advice.

Privacy Subject-Matter Expertise

You will provide privacy subject-matter expertise and guidance to operational, product, safety, customer support, and engineering teams.

Legal and Regulatory Experience

• 3-5 years of privacy law experience.
• A working knowledge of COPPA, GDPR, CCPA, or international privacy and data protection laws.
• A strong plus is a background in children’s/teen privacy and compliance issues.

Education and Professional Background

• Strong academic credentials, previous privacy experience, or training at a major national law firm; in-house experience a plus.
• Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar; California Bar admission preferred.

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent business-oriented judgment and the ability to analyze problems, propose resolutions, and provide advice that is creative, practical and legally acceptable, taking into account the needs and objectives of the business.
• Ability to work well with a small, tightly knit team and desire to seek responsibility and work autonomously.
• Sound work ethic, efficient working style, and high level of organization.
• Must be able to manage a diverse and complex workload while maintaining priorities and proactively anticipating issues, particularly in a fast-paced corporate setting.

Experience and Responsibilities

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range.

All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.

Annual Salary Range $211,760—$252,210 USD
