Responsibilities

  • Locate and stage appropriate sheeted stock to be used at the assigned printing press.
  • Identify inconsistencies of the pick list pertaining to current and upcoming work orders.
  • Setup and adjust the feeder.
  • Quick-change sheeted stock while the press is running continuously.
  • Troubleshoot feeder issues and assist with rollers, plates, coating blankets and ink.
  • Assist the 1st and 2nd Pressman as needed while following all procedures and documentation regarding the Printing process in a safe manner.
  • Ensure all products are manufactured to company/customer specifications.
  • Document all defects and place them in the appropriate area.
  • Purge previous work order before beginning the new order.
  • Sort defective products and accurately report downtime, process scrap, issue and reversal of loads, and quality issues.
  • Obtain needed materials and locate and prep upcoming materials to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot issues regarding feeder trips and assist 1st and 2nd pressman as needed.
  • Remove sheeted waste from press.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as required and report damaged/defective goods to CIM.
  • Mentor/train others to perform job duties.
  • Perform daily housekeeping tasks, including daily pallet jack inspection, sweeping designated department/area, and emptying recycling bins.
  • Ensure that new associates assigned to the equipment are correctly/effectively trained to perform tasks related to maintaining safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Lump loads with coating stickers.
  • Follow all Safe Quality Food (SQF) responsibilities, including plant rules, processes, hygiene, and allergens procedures.
  • Report any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF-related procedures.
  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Self-motivated with problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Pattern recognition and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well with others and be open to giving and receiving critiques.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must be in good physical condition and able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Proper lifting techniques; more than 50 lbs requires a team lift.
  • Requires extended amounts of time bending, pulling, kneeling, walking, standing, and lifting.

Qualifications

  • Display work habits that set an example for peers.
  • Prior manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to work with others to help improve efficiency in various tasks.
  • Mechanical and technical skills.
  • In the event of absence, the 1st Pressman and/or 2nd Pressman would backfill this role.
