Print Shop Digital Output Technician
About the Role
This position’s primary responsibility is the operation of the digital output devices in Graphic Services. The Pre-Press Digital Output Technician operates printers, troubleshoots issues, diagnoses and fixes small problems with the machinery while maintaining specific production and efficiency goals. The role is centered around keeping machines running constantly, monitoring quality, meeting project deadlines, and developing an understanding of the technology involved in the printing processes. The position also requires the ability to rip files for DTS as needed.

Responsibilities
- Digital Color Press
- EFI certified on the Digital Press command workstation
- Certified on consumable replacement parts
- Trained to replace parts on the printer as needed; for advanced issues, place a service call with the vendor
- Monitor supply levels and consumables on all Xerox printing devices
- Perform color calibration on all Xerox printing devices
- Perform pre-flight art function before loading the project to the printer
- Handle packaging and shipping of printed materials
- Large Format Printing
- EFI certified on the wide format workstation
- Certified on consumable replacement parts
- Purge printheads
- Trained to replace parts on the printer as needed; for advanced issues, place a service call with the vendor
- Monitor supply levels and consumables on wide format print devices
- Perform color calibration on wide format print devices
- Perform pre-flight art function before loading the project to the printer
- Finish printed material (cutting, trimming, grommeting)
- Handle packaging and shipping of printed materials
- Workflow & File Management
- Pull and self-assign projects through an online Art/Order dashboard
- Manage workflow to meet deadlines and ship date requirements
- Save art files to appropriate network locations
- Work on various types of graphics, ensuring files are labeled and filed accurately
- Run "the RIP Report" and update job status via Oracle Reports as needed
- Maintain an accurate log of all jobs sent for color separations and other tasks performed daily
- Create color separate files for screen-print manufacturing
- Other Projects
- Create welcome signs, sales rep maps, and special occasion banners
- Overtime will be required at certain times throughout the year
Requirements
- High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or related experience
- Working knowledge of Macintosh computers and Adobe software preferred
- Proficient in creating color separations for the screen print process
