Job Description

The Print Press & Bindery Operator is responsible for operating printing and finishing equipment to produce high-quality print and digital products. This role ensures each job is completed on time, within specifications, and meets company quality and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate print and finishing equipment in accordance with established production standards and job specifications.
  • Monitor quality, speed, and material usage to minimize waste and ensure output meets expectations.
  • Review and interpret job tickets, following all instructions for layout, paper type, binding, and finishing requirements.
  • Conduct in-process and final quality control checks to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Communicate project status, delays, or concerns with the production team to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of machinery in accordance with company maintenance schedules.
  • Adhere to safety procedures including forklift operation, lockout/tagout protocols, and hazardous communication standards.
  • Participate in required training programs and contribute to a safe, organized work environment.
  • Proactively identify and report equipment issues or production inefficiencies to team leaders.

  • Education and/or Experience:
    • A High School diploma or equivalent
    • Effective communication, both verbal and written
  • Desired Skills:
    • Mechanically Inclined
    • Attention to Detail
    • Self-Motivated/Driven
    • Machine/Press Operation experience
    • Experience with cross-media products, print, and digital
  • Mental Requirements:
    • Reading, writing, and calculating
    • Interpersonal skills
    • Reasoning/analysis
    • Work with minimal supervision
  • Equipment/Tools Used:
    • Personal computer, phone, calculator, press and bindery equipment
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Light work (lift up to 10 lbs): Frequent – Office equipment and supplies, manuals, books, etc.
    • Medium work (lift 15-25 lbs): Frequent – Boxes and stacks of manuals, books, etc.
    • Heavy work (lift 25-50 lbs): Occasional – Pallets
