Principle Product Development Engineer/Engineering Project Leader- Special Projects
Job Description
We're looking for a hands-on engineer who thrives on ambiguity, loves solving hard problems, and wants their work to matter. In this role, you'll lead visible, strategically important product development efforts, owning both the engineering details and the cross-functional path to launch. You'll be the person who can zoom in to do the analysis or design work, then zoom out to align stakeholders, unblock decisions, and confidently brief senior leadership.
What You’ll Bring (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering strongly preferred.
- 7+ years of hands-on product development / product design experience, with ownership of design.
- Demonstrated project leadership experience—leading cross-functional work, driving timelines, and holding teams accountable to decisions and deliverables.
- Strong engineering product design fundamentals.
- Able to present tradeoffs and recommendations clearly to senior leadership; comfortable operating in a highly visible environment.
- Proven problem-solving skills: structured thinking, data-based decision-making, and the persistence to drive issues to closure.
What Success Looks Like
- Within 30–60 days: you’ve built credibility by getting into the details, mapping stakeholders, and establishing a clear plan for one or more key programs.
- Within 90 days: you’ve driven at least one major technical decision to closure and have a predictable cadence for status, risks, and executive updates.
- Within 6–12 months: you’ve delivered multiple launch milestones on a highly visible program, reduced risk through testing/learning, and elevated the team’s execution through better standards and follow-through.
Working Conditions and Travel
Work is a mix of office and hands-on collaboration in lab and/or manufacturing settings. Occasional travel may be required.
