Job Requirements
- Performs hands-on surface finishing operations, when appropriate.
- Prepares, institutes, and sustains procedures and controls for all processes employed in the plating lab.
- Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of plating and related processes.
- Ensures safe operation of all surface-finishing processes.
- Mentors personnel in the proper setup and process procedures to clean and plate using the correct plating methods, correct measuring devices/techniques, process control methods, etc.
- Solve and/or participate in solution of issues related to process, documentation, plating, and quality problems.
- Participate in the development of new and upgrading of current processes.
- Investigates and recommends changes to and additions of equipment and processes.
- Helps manage waste streams and help effectively treat and store hazardous waste that is accumulated from the plating process.
- Establishes safe working and housekeeping procedures, promptly corrects hazardous situations.
- Participates in and takes proactive roles in ISO and Lean Manufacturing methodologies for problem prevention, corrective action, identification, and solution verification.
- Maintains process operating parameters and corrects deviations from established set points.
- Revise process work instructions as needed.
- Writes new work instructions to support process changes or improvements, as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Reports any variance from plan and recommends corrective action.
- Manages and maintains all plating and chemical surface finishing processes and related activities.
- Ensures continued compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Establish and achieve planned performance levels, with primary emphasis on continuous improvement, ISO and Lean Manufacturing.
Qualifications
Must independently make complex bath and process adjustments and train others in proper procedures.
Employee requires "Department of Transportation Shippers Training" DOT once every three years in accordance with 40 CFR 172.700- 704.
Employee works with chemicals that require respirator use per Respiratory Protection Program.
The position is accountable for efficient operation and process development of all plating and cleaning operations within the factory.
