Principal Transport Planner (Development Planning)

About the role

We are looking to strengthen our team with an experienced Development Planner at a Principal level. This role involves managing and delivering transport planning services for a wide range of developments across the UK, including key high-profile infrastructure projects. Based in either Newcastle, Leeds, or our Glasgow office, the successful candidate will also contribute to business growth by managing client relationships and participating in marketing and proposal activities.

Responsibilities

• Production of Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and Access Appraisals.
• Traffic modelling and production of abnormal loads assessments (preferable).
• Demonstrable knowledge of the planning process.
• Production of reports for both private and public sector clients.
• Manage project budgets and deliverables.
• Support business development in the Development Planning (DP) sector.
• Communicate effectively, both written and verbally, to respond positively to challenges and constructively challenge others to deliver project outcomes.
• Develop leadership skills by encouraging involvement of, and taking responsibility for outputs of, junior staff.
• Clearly specify information requirements to clients and team members.
• Provide prompt responses and work with clients to understand project objectives and outcomes.

Requirements

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
• Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), and/or Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT), or the Transport Planning Professional (TPP) qualification.
