Principal Transport Planner

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead and deliver complex transport planning projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and client satisfaction
  • Provide strategic transport advice on assessments, master planning, policy, and sustainable travel solutions
  • Oversee technical reporting including Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Construction Traffic Management Plans, and EIA inputs
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop integrated transport strategies
  • Manage and mentor transport planners, supporting their development and ensuring delivery excellence
  • Contribute to business development through proposal writing, client relationship building, and opportunity identification
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, industry standards, and internal quality assurance
  • Champion innovation and stay current with emerging trends, tools, and technologies in transport planning

About You

  • Qualifications: Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, or related field (postgraduate qualification desirable)
  • Chartered or working towards chartered status (e.g. CIHT, TPS, ICE)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Experience & Skills: Proven experience leading transport planning projects across multiple sectors, strong background in transport modelling, policy, and assessments, ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and engage with diverse stakeholders, proficiency in relevant tools such as GIS, CAD, Adobe Illustrator/InDesign is a plus, skilled in technical reporting, project management, and public consultations, knowledge in areas such as Active Travel, Bus Priority, LCWIPs, Public Realm, and Urban Design would be an advantage
  • Eligibility: Eligibility for UK Security Clearance is required to work in sectors such as public, defence and nuclear.
