Principal Technical Program Manager
Overview
The Industry Solutions Engineering (ISE) team is a global engineering organization that works directly with customers looking to leverage the latest technologies to address their toughest challenges. We work closely with our customers' engineers to jointly develop code for cloud-based solutions that can accelerate their organization. We work in collaboration with Microsoft product teams, partners, and open-source communities to empower our customers to do more with the cloud. We develop solutions side-by-side with our customers through collaborative innovation to solve their challenges. This work involves the development of broadly applicable, high-impact solution patterns and open-source software assets that contribute to the Microsoft platform.
Responsibilities
- You will provide expert guidance when working with Software Engineering, Data Scientists, Designers, and SMEs to design crucial technical solutions across feature areas. You’ll also give key stakeholders data-driven recommendations based on identified risks.
- You’ll define success criteria and create relationships for implementing multiple feature areas for crucial cross-functional projects. You’ll coordinate, ensure alignment, and gain buy-in across the business.
- You will deliver on the multi-year roadmap for multiple feature groups across divisions, lead tracking of project schedules, oversee development of staging and implementation plans, and oversee governance programs.
- You will drive continuous improvements by validating use cases and writing test cases from scratch. You’ll also provide expertise needed for departments to collect performance metrics, oversee customer support, and define, lead, and mentor others in direct customer engagements.

Qualifications
- Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
- OR equivalent experience
- 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
- Other Requirements:
- Microsoft is unable to sponsor a work visa for this role due to the nature of the role’s job duties
- Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 15+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
- OR equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
- 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos)
- Enjoy travel and are comfortable with travel up to 25%
Pay Information
- In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.
- In the U.S., the typical base pay range for this role is USD $165,600 - $296,400 per year. In the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.
