Principal Technical Editor and Writer- Product Support

Responsibilities
- Write, rewrite, and/or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences, including military personnel.
- Acquire subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referencing technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals.
- Oversee the preparation of illustrative materials, including the selection of drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts.
- Perform quality reviews of technical manuals.
- Write maintenance-related procedures (e.g., Descriptive, Fault Isolation, Fault Reporting, Operational, Procedural & Non-Procedural, Repair, Scheduled-Maintenance, Avionics, Electrical, Mechanical Maintenance Manuals).
- Use Illustration Part Breakdown (IPB) and SpecView IETM viewer to publish and check accuracy of authored artifacts.
- Travel to customer-designated locations (10% of the time) when performing verification events.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 3 years with a Master’s; 1 year with a PhD.
- Experience in IETM data module authoring and development using Spec1000D.
- Experience with Mil-STD-38784, MIL-STD-3048, Mil-STD-1808, and Tech Manual Style Guide constraints.
- Authoring experience with Arbortext, SGML and/or XML authoring software, Astoria Navigator common source database, and IETM technical publications development processes.
- Must be able to attain a U.S. Government Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on maintenance experience with RQ4 unmanned aircraft and/or ground segment systems such as USAF Global Hawk, FMS ROK and Japan, NATO AGS, and MQ-4 Triton programs.
- Experience with Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) Operations and Maintenance Manual (OMM), the OMM development process, and participating in Customer Validation and Verification (CVV) events.
- Familiarity with development processes associated with Time Compliant Technical Orders (TCTO’s).
- Lead Writer experience using AGILE and JIRA best practices.
Pay
Primary level salary range: $73,900.00 – $110,900.00. The above range represents a general guideline; base salary offers consider the scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
