About the Role

Collins Aerospace, a leader in intelligent aerospace and defense solutions, is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to architect, design, and develop software deployments onto both hardware and cloud environments. This role involves integrating and automating applications using modern DevSecOps and automation practices. Eligible for a sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate a variety of familiar and unfamiliar technologies into orchestrated solutions.
  • Analyze gaps in technology solutions and design paths to close them.
  • Follow directions from team leaders for implementation and scope.
  • Develop and follow installation, integration, and test procedures.
  • Automate manual procedures and document them clearly.
  • Demonstrate work to diverse audiences.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (daily scrum, Sprint and Program Increment planning, retrospectives).
  • Support teammates in achieving success and provide actionable feedback.

Requirements

  • Cumulative 3 years minimum leading and mentoring developers and driving cross-team collaboration.
  • Cumulative 8 years of experience, with 5 years minimum hands-on experience in each:
    • Automating integration of systems using container technologies (Docker, Podman, Docker Compose/Podman Compose) under version control (e.g., Git).
    • Utilizing IaC tools (Terraform, Terragrunt, AWS CloudFormation, Ansible) for automation of server and OS deployments (PXE boot, DHCP, Kickstart).
    • Developing automation with scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell) and thorough testing.
    • Linux systems administration, security, and virtualization technologies (VMWare, KVM).
    • Using 3rd party software such as Nginx, Vault, CoreDNS, dnsmasq, Artifactory.
    • Basic understanding of computer networks, DNS, and host-based network management (configuring interfaces, firewalls).
  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with 5 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented with experience documenting procedures at a high level.
  • Proven record of innovative problem-solving.
  • Experience with Agile Methodology.
  • Experience performing estimations and bid creation (BOEs).
  • Experience creating system architecture.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

Pay

The salary range for this role is $107,500 – $204,500 USD. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Factors considered include role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
