Principal, System Product Engineer
About the role
This role focuses on AI workload-driven product development, test strategy, and production readiness. The candidate will lead system-level product development for AI infrastructure platforms, using workload-driven and data-informed validation to ensure product quality, yield, and readiness from definition through ramp.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end system product development across product development stacks for AI infra products.
- Drive early system learning through simulation-based validation before hardware, firmware, and silicon maturity.
- Translate product requirements into workload-driven validation strategies, linking real workload behavior to system-level coverage and product quality.
- Define test strategies using workload-informed coverage and data-driven screening.
- Use AI-assisted analysis to identify coverage gaps and optimize test efficiency.
- Use AI-assisted workflows to accelerate test code development, including spec-to-code generation and automated validation.
- Partner with Test Engineering to deliver scalable and robust production test solutions.
- Lead system-level failure analysis across NPI and qualification phases.
- Debug issues across hardware, firmware, and system interactions.
- Correlate system-level workload behavior to component-level stress and failure mechanisms to improve coverage and yield.
- Analyze large-scale test data to identify yield limiters and detect anomalies.
- Drive data-informed decisions, including practical use of ML-based classification where appropriate.
- Contribute to and own test firmware development aligned with system-level test and product requirements.
- Cross-functional leadership, working with Design, System, FW, TE, HW, SW, Quality, and Operations teams.
- Deliver clear executive-level updates grounded in data and system insights.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, debug, and test development workflows.
- Promote best practices in AI-assisted engineering across the team.
Qualifications
- Education: BS/MS/Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
- Experience: 6–12+ years in system product engineering, validation, or test development.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of system architecture across compute, memory, storage, and interconnects; proficiency in Python and C/C++; experience with data analysis, failure analysis and yield optimization.
- Key Traits: Strong product ownership and system thinking across multiple domains; data-driven decision maker; hands-on coder or effective AI workflow orchestrator – non-negotiable; ability to define methodology, not just follow existing playbooks.
