Monarch is a powerful, all-in-one personal finance platform designed to help make the complexity of finances feel simple again. Since launching in 2021, we've become the top-recommended personal finance app by users and experts. Our goal is to take the stress out of finances so our members can focus on what truly matters. We are a team of do-ers led by experienced entrepreneurs who are passionate about helping our members reach their financial goals. We're hyper-focused on building a product people love and on finding every edge that helps us do that better. AI is core to how we operate: every person on the team uses it as a partner to sharpen judgment, move faster, and expand what's possible.

About the role

Monarch is seeking a Principal, Strategic Operations to join our Ops team during a period of rapid growth. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you'll design, implement, and continuously improve Monarch's operating system—ensuring company strategy translates into aligned decisions, effective planning, and reliable cross-functional execution. You'll partner closely with our founders and leadership team to build the operating mechanisms that help Monarch scale with clarity rather than complexity.

Responsibilities

  • Design and continuously improve Monarch's leadership operating system, including planning cadences, decision-making frameworks, and operating rhythms.
  • Own the operating mechanics behind quarterly and annual planning, ensuring priorities, dependencies, and execution remain aligned across the company.
  • Drive execution of the company's highest-priority cross-functional initiatives by improving coordination, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Build and evolve the operating mechanisms, documentation, and planning artifacts that enable teams to execute effectively at scale.
  • Partner closely with founders and functional leaders to identify organizational friction, improve decision-making, and continuously strengthen how Monarch operates.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Business Operations, Strategic Operations, Chief of Staff, Management Consulting, or a similar operational leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience designing or scaling operating systems, planning processes, or company-wide execution mechanisms in a high-growth environment.
  • Experience partnering directly with founders and senior leaders on company-wide initiatives.
  • Exceptional written communication skills and the ability to synthesize complexity into clear decisions, frameworks, and operating mechanisms.
  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to identify root causes, simplify complexity, and design durable solutions.
  • Outstanding judgment, executive presence, and the ability to influence senior leaders without formal authority.
  • Proven ability to operate autonomously in ambiguous, fast-moving environments while maintaining an exceptionally high quality bar.
  • Demonstrated AI Fluency: you use AI regularly in your work, have a clear point of view on where it helps and where it doesn't, and are continuously raising your own bar.

Nice to haves

  • Experience leading company planning (OKRs, annual planning, quarterly planning, etc.).
  • Background in management consulting followed by an operating role.
  • Experience supporting founder-led organizations through rapid scaling.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Notion, Linear, Omni / Looker, Slack, and modern AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini).

Benefits

  • Work wherever you want! As a fully remote company with no central office, we want you to work wherever you are happiest and most productive.
  • Competitive cash and equity compensation in a hyper-growth, early-stage company.
  • Stipend to set up your ideal working environment.
  • Competitive benefit plans for employees based on your location (e.g., in the US we offer: medical, dental, and vision benefits and the ability to contribute to a 401k plan).
  • Unlimited PTO.
  • 3-day weekend every month! We take off the “First Friday” every month to focus on rest, recuperation, or just having fun!

Schedule

Our team collaborates synchronously mostly from 9 AM – 2 PM PT and embraces asynchronous work to stay connected across time zones.
