Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer in support of the Sentinel AVE System Engineering & Integration (SE&I) Team. This position is located in Manhattan Beach, CA.

Responsibilities

• Report to the AVE SE&I Director and lead a team of electrical engineers for the development and oversight of the multi-billion-dollar AVE Segment's electrical aspects, including technical and programmatic directions to create and integrate system wiring diagrams, layouts, and roadmaps across elements.
• Oversee signal-quality analysis to deliver engineering products for the Sentinel missile.
• Lead power allocation management, end-to-end power analysis, and power control.
• Ensure successful delivery of the team’s products on time while adhering to Northrop Grumman’s quality-first standard.
• Provide support and help foster engineers’ career development.
• Provide organizational, programmatic, and technical guidance for engineering leadership and management of AVE scope of work.
• Drive on-time delivery of AVE electrical designs and products (system wiring diagrams/drawings/models/layouts/roadmaps and analysis) to support program timelines/milestones.
• Ensure the organization is properly staffed, equipped, and trained to meet current and future program requirements.
• Perform earned value management to track schedule, budgets, plans, and report status as a Control Account Manager (CAM).
• Ensure leadership and key subject matter expert succession plans are in place; coach and mentor key talent to assume increased responsibilities.
• Drive a culture of quality through adherence to command media, standards, and best practices.
• Support a comprehensive risk and opportunity management program.
• Manage multiple program priorities on engineering deliverables.
• Brief program status, risks, and technical challenges to consulting engineers, director, and vice president level leaders.
• Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with other organizations, including other disciplines in Systems Engineering & Integration: Requirements and Verification, Interfaces and Architecture, Specialty Engineering, and Modeling & Simulation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with at least 5 years of related experience; or 3 years of relevant experience with a master’s degree; or 1 year of relevant experience with a PhD.
• Position can be filled one level higher with a Bachelor’s Degree in STEM and at least 8 years of related experience; or 6 years of relevant experience with a master’s degree; or 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD.
• Experience with formal management and/or leadership, including performance reviews for direct reports.
• Demonstrated experience leading cross-organizational collaboration.
• Control Account Management (CAM) experience.
• Electrical design and/or electrical integration experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with manufacturing, process development, design principles, and installation instructions.
• Ability to create schedules/plans to drive design changes forward in a timely manner.
• Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills, including team building, personal and career development, technical and interpersonal problem resolution, work planning, and allocation.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of engineering product release cycles.

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00. Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

Schedule

This position follows a 9/80 work schedule, allowing employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
