Principal / Sr. Principal Configuration Management Engineer

Relocation assistance may be available. Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP). Travel required: 10% of the time.

About the role

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal / Sr. Principal Configuration Management Engineer to join our F35 software configuration management team in Redondo Beach, CA. The selected candidate will lead the update and management of F35 software development procedures documentation, prepare configuration management (CM) artifacts for F35 software deliveries, and mentor other CM team members.

Responsibilities

• Manage, update, and maintain F35 software development procedures and configuration management documentation to ensure customer requirements are fulfilled.
• Review contracts to determine documentation requirements for all phases of the software development lifecycle.
• Prepare CM delivery artifacts and support the CM and development teams to ensure timely F35 software deliveries.
• Author and maintain workflows in Jira and determine how these workflows can be implemented in GitLab.
• Prepare for occasional CM audits.

Requirements

Principal Configuration Management Engineer (Level 3)

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related engineering experience.
• Professional experience managing, updating, and maintaining software configuration management documentation.
• Professional experience authoring and maintaining workflows for software CM procedures in Jira.
• Working knowledge of Git, including experience with a Git remote such as Bitbucket or GitLab.

Sr. Principal Configuration Management Engineer (Level 4)

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 4 years of related engineering experience.
• Professional experience managing, updating, and maintaining software configuration management documentation.
• Professional experience authoring and maintaining workflows for software-related issues in Jira.
• Working knowledge of Git, including experience with a Git remote such as Bitbucket or GitLab.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with NIMBUS.
• Demonstrated leadership, teamwork capabilities, strong time management, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.

Pay

• Principal Configuration Management Engineer (Level 3): $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
• Sr. Principal Configuration Management Engineer (Level 4): $142,200.00 - $213,400.00

The salary range represents a general guideline; base salary offers consider the scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
