This position requires an active US Government Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance. Travel is required, approximately 10% of the time.

This position is located in Melbourne, FL and supports program and business needs within office spaces. The role operates on a 9/80 schedule, providing every other Friday off. This position has no hybrid or remote work available.

The successful candidate will contribute to the overall development of communications subsystems, including developing functional architectures, analyzing performance, managing requirements and interfaces, and verifying/validating all allocated requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze network architectures and topologies for distributed communication applications
  • Conduct trade studies for radio and ICS subsystem architectures
  • Interact with communications suppliers for integration of Radio and ICS systems into the lab
  • Support development and integration of communications subsystems and components to meet platform mission objectives
  • Perform risk analysis and develop mitigation plans, tracking to closure
  • Develop and maintain supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, statements of work, and Interface Control Documents
  • Review documents from the supplier’s development effort and support supplier technical interchange meetings and design reviews
  • Support technical discussions with the customer and interact daily with management, external personnel, customers, and various sub-teams

Qualifications

This position can be filled at either a Principal Electronics Engineer level or a Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer level, depending on qualifications:

  • Principal Electronics Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related engineering experience.
  • Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related professional/military experience.

Skills

  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and data analysis experience
  • Ability to assimilate new concepts quickly and work in a self-directed manner
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas related to communications electronics engineering

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in supplier/subcontract management
  • Experience developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work
  • Experience building supplier evaluation criteria and conducting technical evaluations, documenting results, and selection
  • Ability to review supplier development documents and support technical interchange meetings and design reviews

Pay

The salary range for this position is:

  • Principal Electronics Engineer: $94,400.00 - $147,600.00
  • Sr. Principal Electronics Engineer: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above ranges represent general guidelines. Northrop Grumman considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
