Principal Specialist Design Integrity Checker

This onsite position in Tucson, Arizona, is for a Principal Specialist Design Integrity Checker.
Responsibilities
Candidates must meet qualifications for one of the following roles:
Mechanical Design Checker
- Perform design verification and validation of traditional Mechanical 2D Drawings and Model-Based Design TDPs.
- Ensure mechanical design documentation and models include complex and simple machined parts, castings, and fabricated items.
- Conduct comprehensive verification and validation reviews of mechanical design drawings, documentation, and electronic data output files for producibility, data integrity, quality, and consistency.
- Confirm mechanical designs (traditional and Model-Based) meet form, fit, and function requirements while adhering to Company and Industry Specifications & Standards.
- Authenticate synchronization of design representation (drawings) with the design database models from which they were derived.
- Ensure compliance with ASME Y14.41 and MIL-STD-31000 standards.
Electrical Design Checker
- Provide formal, systematic design verification and validation of traditional Electrical 2D TDPs, including circuit card assemblies, printed wiring boards, schematic design representations, electronic Bills of Material (eBOMs), and design models.
- Use applications such as EXPEDITION-DxDESIGNER, BLUEPRINT, VALOR, and EXCEL for electrical checks and change comparisons.
- Support reviews of software documents per program requirements.
- Perform design verification and validation of traditional 2D Drawings and Model-Based Design TDPs.
- Confirm synchronization of design representation (drawings) with the design database models from which they were derived.
- Ensure compliance with ASME Y14.41 and MIL-STD-31000 standards.
- Experience with Electrical Model-Based Engineering (MBE) concepts and electronic Bills of Material (eBOMs).
The selected candidate may, with training, also verify and validate the opposing design TDP (Mechanical or Electrical).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field and 3 years of experience, or 9 years of relevant experience in absence of a degree.
- 5 years of experience designing, drafting, and/or verifying/validating detailed Technical Data Packages (TDPs).
- Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) design/drafting.
Required Skills
For Mechanical Design Checker:
- Experience with at least one of the following: PTC Creo Suite, Creo/ProE, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Raster, Canvas, GTXImage, and/or Myriad.
For Electrical Design Checker:
- Experience with Electrical software packages such as Mentor Boardstation, EXPEDITION-DxDESIGNER, or related tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Industry Model-Based Engineering (MBE) (3D PDF design representation) and ASME, Military & Industry Standards.
- Configuration & Data Management (CM/DM) comprehension and aptitude for developing advanced TDP record set management techniques in PDM.
- Ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and leadership levels, negotiating solutions to meet program needs and align with design/drafting requirements.
- Electrical CAD design/drafting experience, including MentorGraphics (DxDesigner, Valor), DownStream Technologies (BluePrint-PCB), and other electrical change comparison software.
- Experience with Electrical Model-Based Engineering (MBE) concepts and electronic Bills of Material (eBOMs).
- Problem-solving and process development/improvement skills, with adaptability to evolving technologies, processes, and best practices.
- Mechanical CAD design/drafting experience, including Creo/ProE and other mechanical drafting applications.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $86,800 – $165,200 USD. The range is a good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers factors such as role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills when extending an offer.
Schedule
This is an onsite role. Employees in onsite roles work primarily at the designated location, including all production and maintenance staff essential to product development.
