Principal Solutions Architect, Global Financial Services (GFS)
Amazon Web Services (AWS) Global Financial Services (GFS) team is seeking an experienced and motivated technologist who possesses a unique balance of technical depth and strong interpersonal skills. As a Principal Solutions Architect, you will partner with some of the world’s largest financial services firms, AWS Sales, and other AWS teams to craft highly scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures that address customer business problems and accelerate the adoption of AWS services.
About the role
This role will drive AWS technology adoption and revenue growth across a global financial services customer base. As a trusted customer advocate, you will help organizations understand best practices around advanced cloud-based solutions and how to migrate existing workloads to the cloud. You will shape and execute a strategy to build mindshare and broad use of AWS within global financial services customers.
The ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record in software/technology architecture or consulting. The ability to connect technology with measurable business value is critical. You should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, products, and technical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Ensure success in building and migrating applications, software, and services on the AWS platform as a key member of the customer account team.
- Partner with the customer account team to formulate and execute strategy for successful adoption of AWS technologies.
- Own the overall technical relationship between customers and AWS, making recommendations on security, cost, performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Educate customers of all sizes on the value proposition of AWS and participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful cloud deployment.
- Conduct one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions to transfer knowledge to customers considering or already using AWS.
- Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solutions architect community.
- Author or contribute to AWS customer-facing publications such as whitepapers.
- Build deep relationships with senior technical individuals within customers to enable them to be cloud advocates.
- Act as a technical liaison between customers, service engineering teams, and support.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in specific technology domain areas (e.g., software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics).
- Experience developing technology solutions and evangelizing end-to-end technology roadmaps that guide IT transformations toward cloud computing.
- Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including at C-level, through training, workshops, and publications.
- Deep understanding of large-scale, mission-critical solutions in the financial services industry; past experience as a systems engineer/architect in financial services is ideal.
- Passion for connecting with, educating, training, designing, and building cloud solutions for global financial services customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of distributed systems design and implementation or equivalent.
- Knowledge of large-scale automation and workflow management or equivalent.
- Strong presentation and whiteboarding skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with internal and external executives, IT management, and developers.
- Experience architecting, migrating, transforming, or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud.

Pay
Base salary range: $201,000.00 - $272,000.00 USD annually for this position in New York, NY. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
